The 2009 Fastpitch State Tournaments kicked off this past weekend in Polk County, Florida.  Despite a few weather delays, the "A" State Tournament was able to play every game at regulation time at all sites of this event.  The tournament was a huge success filled with talented athletes, nail bitting finishes, and spectacular plays. ISA would like to thank all teams, complexes, ground crews, and spectators for their participation and for helping ISA make this tournament a memorable one.

Two more teams battled their way through the D NIT this passed weekend in Cherokee, North Carolina.  Both teams qualified for the World Series in Polk County, Florida in September.

Two more teams punched their ticket for the 2009 ISA World Series in Polk County, Florida.

Congratulations to Team Addrenaline (Champion) and Chalkie (Runner Up) who finished in the top 2 spots in the Sports 55 D NIT this past weekend in Florida.

51 teams showed up in Rome Georgia on May 30^th and 31^st to see who would end up winning the Spring National title. In the southeast this was one of very few weekends this year that it was not either raining or rain in the forecast. The player responded to the great weather and played some great softball.

In the D division there were plenty good close games and a quite a few extra inning games to keep the crowd as well as the teams on the edge of there seats

Carolina Dynasty had a rocky but productive road to the title game by knocking off Dirty Dozen, Ctown/E3 and the Head Hunters, While a very solid Buchanan Stone team was handling Tri County Merchants, a very good Mud Cat team, and a very solid Kings Design., Kings Design had got by a good Fat Boys team and also defeated a very strong Alabama team in Hose Power

Carolina Dynasty came out hitting in the winners bracket final and Buchanan Stone went quietly to the loser brackets. Buchanan Stone caught fire and rolled off two wins over Head Hunters and revenged the loss to Carolina Dynasty. It looked like the Stone boys were going for a quick double dip as they jumped out to a 11-2 lead early. But  Dynasty was having no part of that and fought back and tied the game 22 all in the 7^th inning only to see the 8^th inning come around,. After Buchanan was held scoreless in the 8^th the boys from Dynasty plated one in the bottom of the 8^th for a 23-22 victory and was crowned Spring National Champion for 2009. They also punched there ticket to Winter Haven Fla. in September for a shot at the World Series Crown

The Class E was just as exciting as the D the scores were low for a while and then the teams got into the grove and we saw softball at its best with great base hitting and timely defense. City Body Works was pretty much not on the radar to make a lot of noise in this tournament but very quietly marched thru there fourth of the winners bracket on Saturday as the Mississippi Nighthawks was what everybody was talking about, simple because of the young age of the Nighthawks all of them except 2 or so looked to be very early 20s , But they played with great defense and heart coming back numerous times to take the victory. Mean while in the other half of the bracket the pre tournament favorite Maypole was getting by the Ga. Bombers a very good Team Fusion and a strong PCPS team to only see there in state nemesis P-rods in the other dugout. Well Maypole handled the P-rods while City Body Works by the Night hawks before they woke up on Sunday by a 10-0 score. The Nighthawks fell into the loser's bracket but awakened very quickly and handed Team Pink from South Carolina and then another South Carolina team Voodoo home. Then came the two early favorites battling it out to see who got to meet City Body Works. Early it looked like Night Hawks would have an early exit after Maypole put 16 up in one inning but Night Hawks fought back and as all weekend the great defense and never die attitude came to the forefront and defeated a very strong Maypole team.

In the championship it looked like the Nighthawks had left it all on the field against Maypole as the 4^th inning score was 7-4 in favor of the City Body Works team but like a flash both teams started hitting and Nighthawks came back from 6 down in the bottom of the 7^th to tie it at 17 to 17. . City Body works came in the top of the 8^th and proceeded to put a 6 spot on the boys from Mississippi and they had no comeback left as the City Body Works also punched there ticket for the September World Series Crown. Don't be surprised to see these 2 teams in the finals in Winter Haven.
